The new State of Global Air European Union Regional Air Quality Snapshot finds that air quality remains a concern in cities across the European Union.

The State of Air Quality and Health Impacts in Africa Report provides a comprehensive analysis of major air pollution sources and related health impacts in the continent that is home to more than 1.2 billion people. 

ThIS factsheet is based off of SoGA’s report Trends in Air Quality and Health in the Republic of Serbia and offers insights into the health effects of air pollution, including impacts on air quality, exposure to pollutants, major pollution sources, and additional information.

The report Trends in Air Quality and Health in Bulgaria, highlights air quality and its health impacts for Bulgaria and is part of HEI's ongoing series of State of Global Air special reports.  

Air pollution continues to be a leading health concern in Bulgaria and the rest of Southeast Europe, where countries experience PM2.5 exposures well above the World Health Organization (WHO) annual guideline value of 5 μg/m3.

Change in life expectancy in 2019 due to the following pollutants: ambient air pollution, particulate matter, ozone, and household air pollution. Data includes information on each country and region in the Global Burden of Disease database. This data set also includes the decrease in life expectancy from 10 other risk factors.

Number of newborn (0-7 days) deaths attributable to air pollution (outdoor PM2.5 and HAP) in 2019 in each country and region studied by the 2019 Global Burden of Disease Database.
