On October 15, 2020, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, Seattle, published the latest findings from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) studies in The Lancet. The GBD conducted a systematic and comprehensive examination of the number of deaths and lost years of healthy life attributable to some 286 causes of death and 369 diseases in 204 countries, as well as how much of this burden is caused by 87 different risk factors including air pollution.
